Story, Mission, Vision

Cheerful Hearts Foundation (CHF) is a registered, grassroots, non-profit organisation focused on ending child labor & trafficking within Senya, Fetteh and Gomoa Nyanyano fishing communities in the central region of Ghana through anti-trafficking, public health and education enhancement initiatives.

Mission:

Cheerful Hearts Foundation works to educate and empower rural citizens through human rights, public health and education initiatives so they can sustain an improved standard of living.

CHF focuses on three interconnected projects to achieve our vision of a more educated, healthy and prosperous citizenry: Stop Child Labour & Trafficking project, Public Health Research & Education, and Education Standard project.

We predominantly research and manage projects as a hands-on team, with international interns and volunteers adding incredible value to the impact that we make in our communities. Our foreign interns and volunteers gain a wide range of experiences and skills through their exposure to CHFs work in rural communities and schools.

Vision:

An educated, healthy and empowered citizenry.

By inspiring people to take small actions every day to improve the well-being of their community, we envision Ghana as a whole, without a separation between the rural poor and urban rich.

Brief History

Cheerful Hearts Foundation (CHF) was founded in 2008 by Eric Opoku Agyemang and Bright Fiatsi to fulfill the educational needs of poor, rural communities stuck in a cycle of poverty. They realised that human rights violations are preventing those most in need from access to basic human services and the skills that will allow them to thrive.

Since then, CHF has grown to address the most pressing health and human rights needs of its community in addition to education. Eric and Bright’s continued passion and commitment to the underprivileged and their desire to educate individuals with the tools they need to succeed remain the driving forces behind Cheerful Hearts Foundation.

Here is a documentary made by Al Jazeera about their story and the impact through CHF.
